WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE NOT SAFE FOR PREGNANCY
There are some ingredients that have proven to be harmful during pregnancy that you should avoid. Retinols and retinoids can be harmful to your baby and harsh on your skin so stay away from them. Hydroquinone, formaldehyde, or phthalates are compounds to avoid as well. If you see them in your skincare products, stay away!
IS IT SAFE TO USE SKINCARE PRODUCTS DURING PREGNANCY?
Yes! When selecting products to use in your skincare practice during pregnancy, be sure to look for artificial fragrance-free products that are gentle and non-endocrine disruptive.
PREGNANCY SAFE SKINCARE FOR HORMONAL ACNE
Suffering from pregnancy-related acne? Look for products with these ingredients that diminish acne and are safe for pregnant people to use; sulfur, bentonite clay, and benzoyl peroxide.
PREGNANCY SAFE SKINCARE FOR HYPERPIGMENTATION
Melasma and hyperpigmentation are common skin conditions during pregnancy. They suck, there is no other way to say it. While retinols are not safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding, there are a few over-the-counter ingredients you can use to safely assuage the issues - natural retinol alternative, Nephoria is great for combatting melasma. Other active ingredients that are safe for you and your baby include azaleic acid, glycolic acid pads and peels, and vitamin C containing antioxidants.

WHAT IS MELASMA AND HOW DO I DEAL WITH IT?
Melasma is a common skin condition caused by exposure to sun or hormonal changes and is characterized by the appearance of brown or blue-gray patches or freckle-like spots on the skin. Ever heard of the term “pregnancy mask?” It’s because Melasma is so common during pregnancy, as a result of changing hormones. While it might be unsightly and unpleasant during such a transitional time, Melasma is treatable with over-the-counter treatments that contain natural retinol alternatives.

While Melasma may fade away on its own, it helps to treat the condition early and avoid things that can trigger exasperation of the issue. Melasma can fade in a matter of weeks or stick around for months (or even years), so it’s best to take your skincare routine and treatment plan into your own hands
WHY DOES MELASMA APPEAR ON MY FACE?
There are two main causes of melasma;
Sunlight exposure: When sunlight hits our skin, it triggers the body to produce more melanin, which can result in brown or grey-bluish spots on the face, neck and decolletage
Changing hormones: Shifts in our hormones can cause imbalances that show up on our faces. During pregnancy, our hormones change and can h result in pigmentation of the skin
CAN MELASMA SPREAD?
Sunlight is a major exacerbating factor for melasma and can cause existing pigmentation to spread and worsen over time. Try to avoid direct sun exposure and high temperatures. It's also important to note that it's not contagious.
HOW DO I GET RID OF MELASMA?
In many cases, melasma may go away over time. There are treatments, both over-the-counter and prescription topicals, available to help mitigate the unsightly spots that melasma causes on the face.

ARE FRECKLES THE SAME AS MELASMA?
Melasma normally comes with dark brown dots which makes it more noticeable than freckles. Exposure to UV light can cause it. Freckles are typically smaller than melasma spots. Another defining feature is that freckles don’t have sharp edges.
MELASMA VS SUN SPOTS. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
While both melasma and sun spots are caused or aggravated by sun exposure, melasma can also be caused by hormone imbalances. Moreover, melasma is often symmetrical in appearance while sun spots aren't.
IS IT MELASMA OR HYPERPIGMENTATION?
Melasma is a type of hyperpigmentation caused by exposure to sunlight or as a result of hormonal imbalances.

*A note on Hemp Oil. Hemp Oil is one of UNEARTH's powerhouse ingredients. Ours is made from cold pressed hemp seeds, and while it has the latin name cannabis sativa, hemp is actually distinctly different from CBD or cannabis. HOW QUICKLY IS MY ORDER PROCESSED?
Deliveries are scheduled from Monday-Friday (we do not process orders on Saturday or Sunday). Orders are typically processed for shipping within 1-2 business days of order placement, holiday’s notwithstanding.
HOW DO I CHECK ON AN ORDER I HAVE PLACED?
After your order has shipped, you will receive a Shipping Confirmation email with tracking information so you can track the status of the order at your convenience. Please allow approximately 2-4 days for the processing and shipping of all orders. All products are eligible for subscription. There is no long term commitment, you can change or cancel your subscription at any time.
DO YOU CHARGE SALES TAX?
Sales tax is calculated based on the full invoice and may include charges for shipping and handling if required by law. Customers are responsible for the payment of any state and local sales or use taxes that may apply to each order.

WHY WAS MY ORDER CANCELED?
Orders may be canceled for a few reasons. Our stock may have insufficient inventory to fulfill your order, in which case we will email you an estimated delivery date of re-stock. In some cases, orders may be canceled due to incomplete payment details. In these instances you can contact info@shopelderflower.com and our team will assist you in placing your order.
